How many books do you read in one year?
According to “Lenstore after testing 1600 people found that the average participant took 101 seconds to complete the passage. If a person reads for 30 minutes a day at that speed, they can get through 33 books a year (assuming book lengths average out to 90,000 words). Speedy readers who blast through the passage in 60 seconds can read 55 books in a year with 30 minutes of daily reading time—which comes out to just over one book a week.”
I read an average of one book per week, however, I usually have a few “light” reading weeks where I don’t read as much, and a few “heavy” reading weeks where I read more than one book, The actual number of books I read in a year varies somewhat, but the average is about 52. One of my favorite things to do is to keep a journal/log of the books I read. This gives me the opportunity to look back and see what books I’ve read at different points in my life, and how my reading habits have changed over time.
Do you keep a journal about the books you read?
I wish that I had started this earlier in life. I don’t write full-blown reviews in my journal, but I do jot down key points that stood out to me, as well as my overall thoughts and feelings about the book.
I generally highlight a sentence or paragraph if I intend on keeping the book. I do this to remind me later to use it in an email or blog article. I will reference the book title, and the page and write the quote inside a journal. It’s a great way to keep all of my favorite quotes in one place.
I found one reading journal that fits my needs so far.
